Magic is definitely OP though. Finally, Salt and Sanctuary has arrived on the PS Vita and yes, the long wait was absolutely worth it. Perhaps I will find more mitigation rings/charms but for every mend prayer I cast I can use like 10 wildfires with the same drain.Īfter watching several different videos demonstrating various builds/setups it appears that there's so much variation and what works for one person will be less so for another. Cleric prayers kind of leave a lot to be desired as I've noticed they are not useful during battle and are a drain on stamina. I've noticed that incantations are pretty snazzy as are mage spells (even though I've not acquired many so far) and can't wait to grow the skill line further. That being said I'm kind of gunning for a mage/hybrid build. I currently run with a scythe and sword/wand setup but am planning to switch out the latter with a staff when I can spend more skill points. I try to keep my weight in check and have been wearing light armor with the Pumpkin Head. I've since spread into the Mage section on the left and Hunter(?) up the middle of the skill "tree". I'm not very far into the game (I think only about level 27ish and recently downed the Queen of Smiles) but started as a Cleric. To the left of him is a room with the Fireball spell and a shortcut.įlame Orbiters can be found right next to the shrine checkpoint just before the Tree of Men. Drop down many platforms until you reach the Red Lord on the ground. Immediately to the right, by a doorway, is the Lightning Storm incantation.ĮDIT4: From the Red Hall of Cages sanctuary, go left and down at the fork. Entering the Red Hall of Cages from the Castle of Storms, proceed a little ways in until you see a Gravity Obelisk on a raised platform. Having the Dart Brand or using the long jump trick make it significantly easier.ĮDIT3: At this point I'm just logging here whenever I find a spell on my third playthrough. If you are just regular jumping, you have to jump exactly on the edge. Jump up to the platform above and to the right, then jump off as far as you can. There is a gravity obelisk that can be used to get Lightning Arc, as well as a few other items.ĮDIT2: Another one! Lightning Ball is found by exiting the Castle of Storms sanctuary to the right. After defeating Queen of Smiles and getting the Gravity Brand, go down the stairs from her boss arena, then down a chain. There's a seriously cool mage ring there.ĮDIT: I remembered where the Lightning Arc spell is. If you see an item or door that you aren't sure how to get to, don't just say "meh I'l get it later", either do everything you can to figure it out or write down where it is so you can actually find it later.Īlso, once you get the Gravity Brand, go check directly on top of the Bandit's Pass sanctuary. You can find it behind a secret door near the beggar merchant in the Festering Banquest.īasically just search levels really thoroughly. The only one I can remember off the top of my head is Lightning Bolt. Very few spells are purchased from NPCs, you usually just have to find them. I'm exceptionally curious as to what kind of dex builds people have tried because I can't really seem to get into my dex builds since greatweapons just seem so much stronger. So what are your opinions and how can these builds improve? Havn't tried pure magic but the mage/str/gsword build seems to work like the earlier mentioned tank/gsword build except it's slower and damage spikes really hard once you get a magic scaling weapon. Also shotguns, shotguns are crazy but I'm not sure if it makes up for the low defence. But the fact that mobility is only a tiny bit higher than my last build and damage is far lower the only bonus to me is that the stamina doesn't run out as easy. Daggers seem really bad and I havn't really tried dex/swords. My experience with this build has left me a little conflicted so far. I personally had no issues with this build, you mid roll for a bit at the start but since I chose to go through the heavy armor class and level tons of endurance early while simply relying on the big gsword base damage for dps it wasn't long until I was a highly mobile tank of murdering anything and everything. Greatsword/heavy armor strength/endurance: So I figured let's discuss builds, their pros and cons. We quickly noticed large differences in the strength of the different build types we tried and it seems that most of us born of the salt have an opinion on what's strong and what's weak. So I've been playing this game quite a bit with my roomie.
